Engineering Practice Director - Great Lakes

The Engineering Practice Director will achieve regional goals for practice sales, client revenue and bookings, key account development, soldtime, accounts receivable, profitability, and service quality. Work in support of the Company exceeding goals, objectives, and financial performance. Maintain excellent executive level business relationships with established and new customers to ensure continuous customer satisfaction, high quality proposals, manage delivery teams, a geographic territory, and a practice service line. In support of Westin’s growth goals in the Water market, support the National Practice by developing and packaging new and innovative practice service offerings tangential to Westin’s core business focus. Responsible for staff training, mentoring, and recruitment. The areas of focus for Operations, Business Development and General responsibilities are listed below:

Job Responsibilities

  • Growth, business planning, development, sales activities for new opportunities and prospective clients
  • Expands sales with existing accounts for follow-on and cross-selling opportunities
  • Executing projects within budget, schedule, and meeting customer expectations for quality
  • Project planning, proposal pricing, support, scope management, project change control, budget management, risk, issue management, communications management, and QA/QC quality management
  • Balance staff workloads within the Region/Company, including resource sharing and cross-region sharing of technical resources and service capabilities
  • Positioned as our client’s trusted advisor as related to technology with key accounts
  • Maintains personal relationships with key accounts Is committed to customer satisfaction
  • Manage all necessary activities for successfully developing and managing client relationships for existing and prospective accounts
  • Recognized as industry leader Participate, coordinate, and support Practice initiatives established by National Practice
  • Make routine visits to region offices and clients
  • Actively participate in Region Committees and Conferences as a speaker or presenter
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Recruiting is performed to fill key positions and staffing levels required to meet strategic and annual business plans
    • Appropriately manage practice staff geographically dispersed and morale

Job Requirements

  • 15 plus years experience in I&C and SCADA design, business development and project management, including 5 plus years in a water/wastewater engineering consulting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to package, market and sell technical business solutions to water/wastewater utilities or complimentary services
  • Demonstrated experience driving sales and client pursuits
  • Proven ability to break down jobs, create winning proposals, and develop business strategy
  • Demonstrated aptitude to take next step in career path and lead business development efforts in a highly competitive niche market
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and win competitive projects
  • Recognized as a trusted advisor in the industry
  • BS Engineering degree or equivalent, advanced education degree a plus
  • Certification as a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E. or P. Eng.) preferred
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner to internal and external audiences
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products
