Westin helps AWWA Launch High-Tech Operator program

Improving operators’ technical skills can have a direct and profound impact on utility performance. Faced with workforce attrition and the need to improve effectiveness, the water industry recognizes the value of technology training and credentialing for operators.

As a step toward this goal, American Water Works Association (AWWA) contracted Westin to create a High-Tech Operator Certificate Program. The program will develop operators’ understanding and improve competence in the technology and systems used to operate and manage a utility.

Westin worked with the AWWA to design a program that augments operators’ working knowledge through a series of classes that address the basic concepts behind information technology systems such as SCADA, CMMS, CIS and other systems used by water utilities.
